ABOUT
LATEST EXHIBITION
Aakash Dharma is a photographer currently exploring the psychological experience of the uncanny. He aims to combine elements of documentary with surrealism to create compositions that pose more questions than give answers.
Born in Karachi, Pakistan, Aakash is currently based in Berlin and has a profound love for Istanbul, having lived there for seven years. His latest exhibition, "The Quiet Disquiet" is the culmination of a one-year long project with the Ostkreuzschule Für Fotografie and is meant to stand as a breathing monument to the the many who have connected with the idea and, thankfully, have allowed the photographer into the intimate corners of their minds. The exhibition opened 25th November 2021 at the Kunstquartier Bethanien in Kreuzberg, Berlin.

THE QUIET DISQUIET
The masks we wear
In our mirrors we stare
Infinite turns
And endless roundabouts
The uncanny of my mind
And its infinite doubts
This quiet disquiet space, where our mind often paces, is where this body of works rests. The constant pull of the forest against the lust of the city, the multiple identities we carry, the past looming onto our tomorrow - contradictions are an inherent part of the human experience . This project aims to recreate the surreal sensation of being lost in this unheimlich (uncanny) space of the mind.
